Keki Adhikari to be featured as Charumati in her debut play

Actress and model Keki Adhikari is debuting in theater as Charumati. While everybody else were celebrating Shivaratri, Keki and the ‘Charumati’ team spent the night at the Theater Village to rehearse for the play. The rehearsal went on for the whole night.

‘Charumati’, a historical dance play is written by Satya Mohan Joshi and directed by Bimal Subedi. Originally written in Newari, the play was translated in Nepali by Rajendra Maharjan.

The cast of the play include Aruna Karki as Tishyarakshita, Keki Adhikari as Charumati, and Puskar Gurung as Sthunko. The play will start at Theatre village from March 2.

Nandita KC donated Rs. 81k to kids with HIV

Actress Nandita KC visited ‘Baby Life Home’ in Kirtipur to handover Rs. 81,111 to the organization taking care of HIV positive kids. The residence established four years ago is home to HIV positive 16 orphan kids.  

 

Nandita had raised the money during the cultural program in Hong Kong. The money was raised with the help of Miss Hong Kong Nepal VC Lileshowri Khadka, Miss Hong Kong Nepal 2012 Parina Subba, Sunita Gurung, Netra Pahari and Ganesh Basnet.

In a Facebook message Nandiata said, "It was great pleasure to be a part of event on this new year in Hong Kong for those children who are suffering from HIV and Baby Life Home is looking after them. Today I felt happy and glad to meet and handover our small contribution for them. I wish they will always keep smiling."

After the event, Nandita has left for Malaysia to participate in NEFTA Film Award.

Another actress, Keki Adhikari, had also helped the kids in the past. Keki had also taken the children to show her movie ‘Biteka Pal’ in theater.

Why are Keki Adhikari movies unsuccessful?

Keki Adhikari is one of the actress in Nepali movie industry who has received a huge amount of coverage in media. She is beautiful, talented and educated. She is a good actress and has been appreciated for her talent. But, its surprising why none of her movies have succeeded.

It has only been 5 years she has entered in film industry. Being a daughter of a director, she had to go through relatively less amount of struggle. She is also one of the most educated artists – completing MBA soon.

Debuting in ‘Swor’, Keki’s last movie ‘Biteka Pal’ is in theater these days. Although Keki has done a very good acting in the movie, the movie itself isn’t liked by the viewers.

Film making is a team effort. May be Keki is waiting for a good team to give a hit movie. Time will surely tell.

100 artists expected to participate in NEFTA award in Malaysia

The 2014 edition of a film award being organized by Nepal Film Technician Association, NEFTA, is going to be held in Malaysia on January 31. This is the first time the ceremony is changing venue, that too in a foreign country, as all the past five editions of the award were held in Soltee Hotel.

Some of the artists participating in the cultural shows in the ceremony are being trained by Gobind Rai. Some of the artists being trained include Nandita KC, Harshika Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Benisha Hamal, Nilima Sharma and others. Film journalists Suman Gaire and Bijaya Awaj are also planning to dance with Benisha Hamal in the ceremony. The reharshal is expected to wrap up on January 23.

The actress living in India, Nandita KC, had came back to Kathmandu to do the reharshal of her dance on the song ‘Gairi Khet Ko…’ of ‘Prem Pinda’ and ‘Gurasai Fulyo …’ of ‘Superstar’.

The artists expected to participate in the ceremony include Rekha Thapa, Niruta Singh, Jharana Thapa, Karishma Manandhar, Saujanya Subba, Neeta Dhungana, Rajesh Hamal, Gajit Bista, Yashraj Garach. Some artists are leaving Nepal on January 27 and remaining artists will reach Malaysia on January 29. The team will return back to Nepal on February 2.

Biteka Pal – Movie Review (Nepali Movie 2014)

Nepali movie ‘Biteka Pal’ was released in theater on January 10, 2014. The premier of the movie was held on December 28, the recommendations of the viewers were told to be incorporated in the final release. The movie produced by Rajesh Ghatani and Krish Rijal is written and directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’. The movie features Keki Adhikari, Abinash Gurung and Baboo Bogati in lead roles.

 

The director had told that the movie is based on a true story of a woman from Jhapa.

Story

The movie is made on the triangular love story of three characters Numa (Keki Adhikari), Abhi (Abinash Gurung) and Rayan (Baboo Bogati). All three characters are not happy with each other and the movie is the clash between these three characters.

The characters in the movie express their feelings in words and tears but, the presentation doesn’t seem natural. The tension in relationship between the character is documented with words, tears and sad music but, the viewers fail to feel it.

Strength and Weakness

The characters played by these actors haven’t been well presented. Abhi is told to be a well known artist in Darjeeling, but you don’t get a feeling of him being that popular. The twists and turns of the story don’t have enough background to make them believable.

The cinematography is simple, it doesn’t have much artistic touch. Although the movie was shot mostly in Darjeeling, there isn’t much scenes to show the life in Darjeeling. The script of the movie could also have been much better.

Star Cast

Baboo Bogati has done a very good job and has given justice to his role. Keki Adhikari, the central character of the movie, has also done a good acting but, sometimes it seems like an over-acting. The character played by Keki is sad and cries a lot. But, the crying fails to touch the heart of the viewers. Keki has worked hard to justify her role.

The debut actor, Abinash Gurung, has failed to show his acting talent. Abinash’s acting shows a lot of scope of improvement. In serious scenes, he has failed to express the seriousness.

‘Biteka Pal’ is the sixth movie of Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’  as a director. In addition to that he has written the script of twice the number of movies he has directed. Although Nalbo has presented a good character, the presentation of the social and psychological aspect has failed. In terms of script writing, Nalbo has failed to bind the character in a solid story line.

Conclusion

The director and the artists have tried their best to make it a good movie. But, the movie could have been made much better by improving the presentation and characterization. It is a good story but, the presentation has ruined the story.

The story seems to be an original one and if you like love stories and can overlook the shortcomings, you might enjoy the movie.

Good opening of Nepali Movie Chha Ekan Chha and Biteka Pal

Aggressive promotion of ’6 Ekan 6′ has paid off – causing houseful occupancy of the movie on it’s release day. The success however will depend on the mouth publicity. The initial response of the viewers are generally positive.

One of the producers, Deepa Shree Niraula expressed her happiness on the success of the movie. The turnover of the viewers to theater is told to be like that of ‘Kali‘. Dinesh DC‘s direction, ’6 Ekan 6′ features six comedy actors – Deepak Raj Giri, Sitaram kattel (Dhurmus), Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha), Shiva Hari Poudel (Mukhan Hannu Jasto), Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Sandeep Chhetri and actress Neeta Dhungana in leading roles.

‘Biteka Pal’ producer Rajesh Ghatani also expressed his satisfaction on the viewers on the first day of screening. Rajesh claimed that the viewers will increase as the mouth publicity effect takes over. He expects the movie to take over after Sunday. The movie directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ features Keki Adhikari, Baboo Bogati and Abinash Ghising in lead roles.

The opening of two other movies, ‘Yoddha’ and ‘Parai’ were not that impressive. According to a report two shows of ‘Parai’ at Big Movies and F Cube were canceled because of the lack of viewers.

This was a tough opening of the movies released this week because of the competition among four movies.

Biteka Pal to get a trim in length before the release on Jan 10

After the premier show, the film makers of ‘Biteka Pal’ have collected the views and suggestions of the viewers to make it better. The movie "Biteka Pal" is one of the four movies releasing on January 10, 2013.

 

Although the director Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ was appreciated for making a good movie and the actress Keki Adhikari for her acting skills, some have complained that the movie has some unnecessary and confusing scenes. In a report, the producer Rajesh Ghatani has told that the length of the movie will be trimmed by 20 minutes to incorporate the suggestion of the expert viewers. In a Facebook message, Ghatani told that he has considered the suggestions of the viewers his New Year’s present.

‘Biteka Pal’ is competing with some big names like comedy actor’s ‘Chha Ekan Chha’, late Shiva Regmi‘s ‘Parai’ and ‘Yoddha’ for the Nepali movie viewers.  

Nepali actresses nominated for Music videos model award

In a music video award ‘Rastriya Rapti Music Award 2070′ to be held soon, all the nominated music video models are actresses. The nominated actresses include: Keki Adhikari, Binita Baral, Nandita KC, Jharana Thapa, and Shilpa Pokharel. Four out of the five nominated models are established film actress. The only model, Shilpa is also going to be featured in Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s upcoming movie ‘Lazza’.

This is the third edition of Rapti Music Award in which the word Rastriya is added in the front to award the music artists from all over Nepal. In the past two awards, only the artists of Rapti district where awarded.

There are 25 different categories of the award for the music creations released last year. The judges of the award are singer, actress and journalist Komal Oli, musician Buddha Sayami, and film journalist Shanti Priya.

In male models however Mukesh Acharya, Gajit Bista, Aamir Gautam, Yash Raj, and Sanam Kathayat are nominated.

Keki Adhikari in an attractive costume in Biteka Pal premier

Actress Keki Adhikari appeared in a different and attractive costume in the premier of her upcoming movie ‘Biteka Pal’. It was not only the costume, Keki’s acting in the movie was also appreciated by the viewers. The typical dhaka costume was designed by the noted costume designer of Nepali film industry, Nilima Sharma.

The movie scheduled to release on January 10 features Keki with Baboo Bogati and Abhinash Gurung. The movie directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ was appreciated by most of the viewers of the premier.

Shot mostly in Darjeeling, the movie is jointly produced by Rajesh Ghatani and Krish Rijal. During the premier, Rajesh Ghatani promised to donate all the revenues collected on the first day at Indra Dev theater in Narayangadh, Chitwan to the family of late director Shiva Regmi. The movie directed by Shiva Regmi, ‘Parai’ is also going to release with ‘Biteka Pal’.

Other actresses like Reema Bishowkarma, Richa Sharma, Malina Joshi, Sanchita Luitel, Sarita Lamichane etc. were also present in the premier show.

Biteka Pal premier show held in Kathmandu, Keki appreciated for her role

The premier show of upcoming movie ‘Biteka Pal’ was held in Kathmandu on December 29, 2013. After the show, most of the viewers have appreciated the movie. The movie directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ features Keki Adhikari, Baboo Bogati, and Abinash Gurung in lead roles.

 

In the premier show held in City Center, Darjeeling resident actor Abinash was also present. He had travelled from Darjeeling to Kathmandu for the premier show. Other noted personalities in the show include Hari Bansha Acharya and his wife, Maoist leader Barshaman Pun, Yuvaraj Lama, producer Rajkumar Rai, director Bikash Acharya, Suresh Darpan Pokharel and others. With Keki other actrors like Benisha Hamal, Reema Bishowkarma, Gajit Bista, Niraj Baral, Subash Thapa, Sarita Lamichane, Samyam Puri, Malina Joshi, Wilson Bikram Rai, Sanchita Luitel and others were also present at the Big Cinemas.

The producer of another movie ‘Chha Ekan Chha’, which is releasing with ‘Biteka Pal’, Nirmal Sharma and Deepak Raj Giri were also present in the premier.

After the show, most of the viewers had appreciated the acting of actress Keki Adhikari and the effort of the director Suraj Subba.

Keki Adhikari actively participated in election awareness

Actress Keki Adhikari had been actively participating in creating awareness of the rights to vote in the election. Like Keki, youths in Nepal are worried of the future of the country and have been actively advocating of the participation in the election.

Keki shared a photo showing her inked finger and the voting identity card saying that she has used her ‘rights and responsibility. A more detailed information on the Keki’s online statements are compiled in her fan site Keki.info.

Artists protest Nepal Banda at the time of election

Nepal closure called by the faction of CPN (Maoist) led by Baidhya and 33 other parties has caused problem in all aspects of day-to-day life in Nepal. Some Nepali artists have expressed their dissatisfaction on forceful closure and violence.

Comedy artists Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya wrote an open letter to stop this type of nonsense at the time of election.  MaHa have told that they are against any forms of violence.
