Chha Ekan Chha Fever Grips Nepal!

Nepali film Chha Ekan Chha is doing so well that it’s apparently replacing Bollywood films in the cinemas! The film starring Deepak Raj Giri, Sitaram Kattel, Neeta Dhungana, Kedar Ghimire and more has been dubbed by viewers as the comedy film of the year!


The film apparently earned Nrs 7.8 million (78 Lakhs) in two days of it’s release. If this trend continues then the film is well on it’s way to becoming one of the biggest Nepali films. Since it’s release on Jan 10 – the film has already grossed over NRS 2 crores till date (do read the “2 Crore Club” article snapshot). Looks like Director DC is on his way to the very very very top.


Chha Ekan Chha distribution rights has already been sold in the USA and the UK!! The UK rights have been acquired by Manoranjan Ek Matra Entertainment.


Good opening of Nepali Movie Chha Ekan Chha and Biteka Pal

Aggressive promotion of ’6 Ekan 6′ has paid off – causing houseful occupancy of the movie on it’s release day. The success however will depend on the mouth publicity. The initial response of the viewers are generally positive.


One of the producers, Deepa Shree Niraula expressed her happiness on the success of the movie. The turnover of the viewers to theater is told to be like that of ‘Kali‘. Dinesh DC‘s direction, ’6 Ekan 6′ features six comedy actors – Deepak Raj Giri, Sitaram kattel (Dhurmus), Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha), Shiva Hari Poudel (Mukhan Hannu Jasto), Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Sandeep Chhetri and actress Neeta Dhungana in leading roles.

‘Biteka Pal’ producer Rajesh Ghatani also expressed his satisfaction on the viewers on the first day of screening. Rajesh claimed that the viewers will increase as the mouth publicity effect takes over. He expects the movie to take over after Sunday. The movie directed by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ features Keki Adhikari, Baboo Bogati and Abinash Ghising in lead roles.

The opening of two other movies, ‘Yoddha’ and ‘Parai’ were not that impressive. According to a report two shows of ‘Parai’ at Big Movies and F Cube were canceled because of the lack of viewers.

This was a tough opening of the movies released this week because of the competition among four movies.

Chha Ekan Chha- New Nepali Movie to release on 10th January, 2014

The ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ film unit organized a press meet at Union House, Anamnagar, Kathmandu to announce the release date of the movie. The movie is scheduled to release on Poush 26 (January 10, 2013).

Talking about he movie, the producer and the writer of the movie, Deepak Raj Giri told that the movie is a totally entertainment movie. He promised, “The movie will bind the viewers in seat for 2:15 hours.

The co-producer and assistant director Deepa Shree Niraula stated that the movie is the result of the investment of “all the name and credit” they have gained so far in the entertainment industry. Actor and co-producer Nirmal Sharma told that the movie is the result of the experience he has gained by producing half-a-dozen flop films. Although he doesn’t expect the movie to be super-hit, he expect it to do a satisfactory business.


There are six leading actors and one lead actress – Neeta Dhungana, in ‘Chha Ekan Chha’. Actor Shiva Hari Poudel (Mukhama Hannu Jasto)expressed his satisfaction to do a leading actor role at the age of 47. Another actor Sandip Chhetri also expressed his satisfaction on his role as a leading actor. Other leading actors include Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budho), Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Deepak Raj Giri. Neeta claimed that the movie has become the best movie she has done so far.

The movie directed by Dinesh DC features the script of Jagadishowr Thapa and music of Sambhujit Baskota. The title song of the movie is recorded on the voice of Hari Bansha Acharya, Kiran KC and the director Dinesh DC.

Hari Bansha Acharya sang a song in ‘Chha Ekan Chha’

The ‘Ha’ of MaHa, Hari Bansha Acharya had sung a song in an upcoming movie ‘Chha Ekan Chha’. The comedy movie produced by Deepak Raj Giri features popular comedy actors in leading roles. The song titled ‘Mero Maya Timilai’ also features the voice of another comedy actor, Kiran KC.


For Hari Bansha, it wasn’t easy singing after a long gap. In the past, he had given voice to a number of songs and had also released a music album. The recording was done on the second week of November.

‘Chha Ekan Chha’ is a production of Deepak Raj Giri and is being directed by Dinesh DC. The movie features six popular comedy actors in leading roles and will be release in January.

Apart from acting and singing, Hari Bansha has also proved to be a fine writer after the instant success of his biography ‘China Harayako Manche’.

Film artists commit to vote and ask everybody to vote for Constitutional Assembly Election 2070

Various artists talked about the upcoming election in the talk program organized by the Film Directors Guild of Nepal on November 15, 2013. In the talk program titled ‘The role and responsibilities of film artists’ Election Commissioner Nilkantha Upreti was invited as the Chief Guest.


In the program, actors Rajesh Hamal, actress Karishma Manandhar, Basundhara Bhusal, Nisha Adhikari, singer Kunti Moktan, Rajesh Payal Rai, director Dinesh DC, actor Deepak Raj Giri, musician Sambhujit Baskota, Rajkumar Rai, and journalist Bidur Giri talked about the election and their roles in the election.


Actor Rajesh Hamal said that all the parties including the protesting parties should work together to write the constitution.  Actress Karishma told that everybody should vote to help the responsible parties to win in the election. She also admitted that it is the first time she is planning to voting in an election.

Apart from the artists present in the interaction program almost all of other artists are committed to one political party or the other.
