Miss teen college on Talent Show

Glamour Nepal, Kathmandu – TVS WEGO Miss Teen College 2014 is right on its final preparation. In that regard the young teenage girls are going through different activities including grooming session by the choreographer Rojin Shakya.

The 34 contestants competing for the miss teen college award were seen performing for the talent round on 22nd of February. During the talent round most of the contestants felt comfortable to perform dance while some of them were singing their talent whereas couple of them delivered the speech on the topic of their choice.

The contestants were judged to finalize winner in the category of miss talented. The grand finale of the event is scheduled for 27th of February 2014 at Rastriya Nachghar, Jamal. The event to be organized by Season Media claims that the winner would be receiving the brand news tvs wego scooter along with the scholarship award of worth rupees fifty thousand while first and second runner-ups of the competition receiving cash prize of worth rupees twenty five and fifteen thousand respectively along with the scholarship for further studies and other gift hampers. Rapti Music Award 2070 held in Kathmandu, Gajit and Jharana awarded best model award

Rapti Music Award 2070 was held in Rastriya Shabha Griha, Kathmandu to award the best Nepali music artists. Out of the nominations for the music video models, Jharana Thapa and Gajit Bista have been successful in winning the awards.

 

In film music, the musician of ‘Mero Jiwan Sathi’, Arjun Pokharel was awarded the best musician. Dayaram Pandey was awarded the best lyricist in movies. Background singer awards were awarded to Durga Praiyar and Sworoop Raj Acharya for their songs in ‘Maya’s Bar’.

In music video, actor Gajit Bista was awarded the best music video model award. He was awarded for his role in the music video ‘Barbad Bhaya…’ In female model category actress Jharana Thapa was awarded the best female music video model for her role in the video titled ‘ke banayo …’

In the ceremony, Birahi Karki and Devi Gharti were awarded the best folk singers in male and female category respectively. Singer Narendra Pyasi was awarded the best male singer and Reema Gurung Hoda was awarded the best female singer in Sugam Sangeet. Raju Singh was awarded the best musician and Bhabesh Bhumari was awarded the best lyricist.

Rejina Upreti got married to Suraj Pokharel

Actress Rejina Upreti got married to Suraj Pokharel in a formal event held in Kathmandu on Saturday February 22. Suraj and Rejina had recently arrived from UK to get married in Nepal. After the marriage they are going back to live in London. If things go as planned, Rejina won’t be seen in any new Nepali movies.

A lot of Nepali film industry personalities were invited in the marriage ceremony.

Happy Birthday Pooja Chand

Actress Pooja Chand celebrated her birthday on February 17, 2014. The actress who started acting in 1991 was married to director Suraj Chand. Pooja and their daughter went to the USA after misunderstanding with Suraj. In USA she got married to musician Raju Lama and they are living together in the USA.

After living in USA for some time and being away from Nepali movie industry, Pooja had also released a musical album titled ‘Kasari Samjhau’ in 2011; few months before she got married to Raju Lama.

Valentine Night in Baltimore, USA turned sour when some got too drunk (Video)

An event held in the USA turned sour when some of the viewers got drunk and out of control. At the end of the program, some viewers were drunk the security personals couldn’t control them and had to call police to control the situation.

Nepali artists living in Baltimore area had organized the cultural night to celebrate the festival of love, Valentine Day. The event named Valentine Night featured singers Pabita Praiyar and Dinesh Bhandari. Other artists include Prem Raja Mahat, Sanjeep Pradhan, Sarishma Amatya, actor Ramesh Upreti, Bijaya Shrestha etc.

The event went well for the first two hours until some of the participants got too drunk to control themselves. There were about 150 participants of Nepali and Bhutani origin and living in Baltimore area.

Happy Birthday Malina Joshi (Birthday Celebration Event 27th January 2014)

Miss Nepal 2011 and actress of ‘Ritu’, Malina Joshi celebrated her birthday on January 27, 2014. The surprise party was organized by her friends.

Malina shared the birthday photos in Facebook.

Malina’s debut movie as an actress, ‘Ritu’ is going to be released soon. Malina’s first movie however was ‘Kollywood’ in which, she was featured as an item dancer.

Rose Rana becomes a father to a son

Producer and actor Rose Rana has become a father to a son on January 27, 2014. Rose’s wife Upama KC gave birth to a healthy son at around 7:15 PM in Norvic Hospital, Thapathali. It had been about 6 years since Rose got married to Upama (in 2064 BS).

Rose had been one of the most controversial producer in the Nepali film industry. He was also arrested for running illegal business and was dragged into controversy over affair with an actress. Rose has been mending his family relationship after that. The birth to the son is expected to stabilize the family life of Rose. Rose had postponed his movies ‘Heroine’ and ‘Gangster’ to start a different business.

Rose said that the new born baby is healthy and weighs 3 KG.

100 artists expected to participate in NEFTA award in Malaysia

The 2014 edition of a film award being organized by Nepal Film Technician Association, NEFTA, is going to be held in Malaysia on January 31. This is the first time the ceremony is changing venue, that too in a foreign country, as all the past five editions of the award were held in Soltee Hotel.

Some of the artists participating in the cultural shows in the ceremony are being trained by Gobind Rai. Some of the artists being trained include Nandita KC, Harshika Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Benisha Hamal, Nilima Sharma and others. Film journalists Suman Gaire and Bijaya Awaj are also planning to dance with Benisha Hamal in the ceremony. The reharshal is expected to wrap up on January 23.

The actress living in India, Nandita KC, had came back to Kathmandu to do the reharshal of her dance on the song ‘Gairi Khet Ko…’ of ‘Prem Pinda’ and ‘Gurasai Fulyo …’ of ‘Superstar’.

The artists expected to participate in the ceremony include Rekha Thapa, Niruta Singh, Jharana Thapa, Karishma Manandhar, Saujanya Subba, Neeta Dhungana, Rajesh Hamal, Gajit Bista, Yashraj Garach. Some artists are leaving Nepal on January 27 and remaining artists will reach Malaysia on January 29. The team will return back to Nepal on February 2.

Parcha Fashion Show III at the Porchester Hall in London On January 24, 2014

The third Parcha Fashion Show will be taking place on Friday 24th January, 2014 at the Porchester Hall in London. The annual fashion show by the popular UK based Nepali event management company Parcha Productions began with an aim to give the young and upcoming designers a platform where they could gain maximum exposure. The Parcha team who have quite the eye for talent will be showcasing over a dozen hand-picked designers and gifted voices for the acoustic sets once the fashion show is complete. The list of designers feature familiar to new names and bring in a diversity from Nepali to non-Nepali fashion enthusiasts. Also confirmed for the live music is the very popular Shreya Rai and Garima Rai.

In order to secure a seat for the show interested folks will have to buy the tickets in advance as there will be no door sales. The tickets are currently going for £15 and they can be purchased online or through a simple call to the Parcha members. Continuing their tradition to support different social organisations, the Parcha Fashion Show will be supporting the Happy Home Project.

Karishma’s Daughter Kabita having a grand birthday celebration

The daughter of Karishma Manandhar, Kabita Manandhar, has come home to celebrate her birthday this year. Kabita’s plan to surprise her mother by arriving unannounced met with another surprise – the mom wasn’t at home. Karishma had a plan to go to Doha on the day the daughter arrived. Karishma had to take a tough decision on whether to please her fans or to please her daughter.

Upon her arrival in Nepal, Kabita’s birthday celebration started. She cut cakes and had fun with friends and family. Karishma arrived home on Friday morning. Back from Qatar, Karishma met her daughter after a year-long gap. She wants to make the birthday an special event and she is planning of a theme for the birthday celebration.

Karishma Manandhar arrived in Qatar for cultural program

Actress Karishma Manandhar has arrived at Qatar for the New Year program to be held on December 18.

We talked about Karishma’s dilemma on whether to attend the program or not when she knew about the surprise arrival of her daughter from the USA on December 17. The day is also the birthday of her daughter Kabita Manandhar. Karishma finally decided to keep her promise with heavy heart and left for the Arab country on the day Kabita arrived home. 

Earlier today, Karishma shared a sad photo of her on her way to Qatar.

Happy Birthday Keki Adhikari: 17th December 2013

Nepali actress Keki Adhikari is celebrating her birthday on December 17. On the occasion of Keki’s birthday, the ‘Biteka Pal’ team is organizing a music launch event in a party palace in Kathmandu. MaHa Australia Tour, MaHa Yatra 2014 to start on January 18

The MaHa duo, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya and other artists are going to perform in various cities of Australia under a tour titled MaHa Yatra 2014.

The artists comprising of MaHa, Kiran KC, Basundhara Bhusal, Narendra Kansarkar, Shiva Hari Poudel, Kunti Moktan and Mohit Bamsha Acharya (Haribansha’s son) will also be in the MaHaYatra tour.

The artists are scheduled to reach Australia on January 16. The tour will start from the Australian city Perth on January 18 and will conclude in Sydney on February 2. The events will be conducted in the major cities like Perth, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Alidade, and Sydney.

In MaHaYatra 2014, MaHa will perform well known comedy shows of the past and a new show. Other artists will also be featured in different comedy shows and musical programs.

Nepathya on a Countrywide Musical Tour 2013

One of the most popular music bands in Nepal, Nepathya is gearing up for a music tour across Nepal spreading the messages of education and peace in 10 different places within the country including the capital Kathmandu.

This band’s musical tour is scheduled until Poush 5, 2070 and during this period Nepathya will travel in several places around the country including Ratnanagar (Chitwan), Damak (Jhapa), Gulariya (Bardiya), Beni (Myagdi), Lalbandi (Sarlahi), Lamahi (Dang), Gagangauda (Kaski), Biratchowk (Morang), Taulihawa (Kapilbastu) and Abukhaireni (Tanahu). Here’s the schedule of the musical tour below.

Founded in the year 1990 with three band members, Deepak Rana, Amrit Gurung and Bhim Poon, the band has been consistent over 20 years despite seeing many band members come and go.

‘Chhekyo Chhekyo’, ‘Taal Ko Paani’, ‘Resham’, ‘Chari Maryo Shishaiko Golile’ are some of the best evergreen songs delivered by this Nepali Folk Rock Band.

With a total of 9 music albums starting from their first in 1991- ‘Nepathya’, the blend of pop, folk and rock music has created a music charm in every Nepali music listeners.

The band has toured in several places within the country and abroad in the past decade. Their recent historic performance at Wembley Arena in London brought around 8,000 strong Nepali music lovers on August 3, 2013.

The musical concert aimed at spreading the message of peace, progress and education in the country is expected to bring enthusiastic participation.

Latest Update: The band has finished performing at their first stop – Ratnanagar, Chitwan and has headed to Biratchowk.

Rekha Thapa successfully screened Kali in Hong Kong

Rekha Films’ superhit movie, ‘Kali’ was successfully screened in Hong Kong on December 8, 2013. The lead actress and the producer of the movie, Rekha Thapa, watched the movie with the viewers. Rekha had gone to Hong Kong on December 3.

The Council General of Nepal in Hong Kong, Mahesh Prasad Dahal was present in the ceremony. After the show, Rekha has stated that the screening of the movie was a "grand success" in Hong Kong.

After a huge success of Rekha Film’s movie ‘Kali’ in Nepal, the movie is going overseas. The first overseas premiere of the movie is going to be held in Hong Kong on December 8, 2013.
