Nandita KC donated Rs. 81k to kids with HIV

Actress Nandita KC visited ‘Baby Life Home’ in Kirtipur to handover Rs. 81,111 to the organization taking care of HIV positive kids. The residence established four years ago is home to HIV positive 16 orphan kids.  
 

Nandita had raised the money during the cultural program in Hong Kong. The money was raised with the help of Miss Hong Kong Nepal VC Lileshowri Khadka, Miss Hong Kong Nepal 2012 Parina Subba, Sunita Gurung, Netra Pahari and Ganesh Basnet.


In a Facebook message Nandiata said, "It was great pleasure to be a part of event on this new year in Hong Kong for those children who are suffering from HIV and Baby Life Home is looking after them. Today I felt happy and glad to meet and handover our small contribution for them. I wish they will always keep smiling."

After the event, Nandita has left for Malaysia to participate in NEFTA Film Award.

Another actress, Keki Adhikari, had also helped the kids in the past. Keki had also taken the children to show her movie ‘Biteka Pal’ in theater.

100 artists expected to participate in NEFTA award in Malaysia

The 2014 edition of a film award being organized by Nepal Film Technician Association, NEFTA, is going to be held in Malaysia on January 31. This is the first time the ceremony is changing venue, that too in a foreign country, as all the past five editions of the award were held in Soltee Hotel.


Some of the artists participating in the cultural shows in the ceremony are being trained by Gobind Rai. Some of the artists being trained include Nandita KC, Harshika Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Benisha Hamal, Nilima Sharma and others. Film journalists Suman Gaire and Bijaya Awaj are also planning to dance with Benisha Hamal in the ceremony. The reharshal is expected to wrap up on January 23.


The actress living in India, Nandita KC, had came back to Kathmandu to do the reharshal of her dance on the song ‘Gairi Khet Ko…’ of ‘Prem Pinda’ and ‘Gurasai Fulyo …’ of ‘Superstar’.


The artists expected to participate in the ceremony include Rekha Thapa, Niruta Singh, Jharana Thapa, Karishma Manandhar, Saujanya Subba, Neeta Dhungana, Rajesh Hamal, Gajit Bista, Yashraj Garach. Some artists are leaving Nepal on January 27 and remaining artists will reach Malaysia on January 29. The team will return back to Nepal on February 2.

Namrata Shrestha questions credibility of Nepali film awards

Talking to an online magazine actress Namrata Shrestha has questioned the credibility of Nepali film awards. The actress who doesn’t go in such award ceremonies and hasn’t won any awards so far, is considered to be one of the best actress in the industry.


Namrata says, "I have been working for viewers, not for awards." The awards not being fair is a trend in Nepali film industry. It’s not easy to change and Namrata admitted of not trying to change it. But, she also added that all she can do is boycott such award ceremonies.


But, this time Namrata will be seen in NEFTA Awards in Malaysia. Although she won’t have any programs in the ceremony, she will be there to promote her upcoming movie ‘November Rain’. She will launch the first look of the movie in the ceremony. It’s to be noted that, one of the producers of ‘November Rain’, Subash Giri is also one of the sponsors of NEFTA award.

Hostel Nepali Movie, 51 days success party held in Kathmandu

One of the most successful films of the current time, ‘Hostel’ makers have organized a success party in Kathmandu on the celebration of it’s 51 days in theater. According the the producer, Sunil Rawal, most of the film personalities, journalists and artists were invited to the party held at Siddhartha Party Palace in Banesowr.


At the time when most of the movies are not able to earn the cost, ‘Hostel’ has been able to be collect a good revenue.

‘Hostel’ features second generation actors in Nepali movie industry and is made on the story of college students.

We had also done a review of ‘Hostel’.

The producer’s earlier movie ‘Saayad‘, made last year, had also been able to do a good business and was nominated in 10 categories of NEFTA film award. The production house, Durgis Films, is also planning to make the ‘Saayad’ sequence ‘Saayad 2′ in near future.
