Karishma Manandhar debuts as a MC in Kamana Film Awards announcement ceremony

‘Kamana’ magazine and CG Entertainment announced a joint venture to organize a yearly film award titled ‘Kamana Film Awards’ in a program held in Kathmandu. The representatives of CG Entertainment and Kamana Publication signed a five-years agreement in the ceremony.


For the first time in her 25-years-long filmy career, actress Karishma Manandhar conducted the announcement program as a master of ceremony. ‘Kamana’ is turning 30-years-old and the award ceremony will mark the birthday of the film magazine.



While talking in the ceremony, Karishma felt a little hesitation at the start but later she recovered and ran the program smoothly. In addition to the announcement, a cultural program was also held in the venue, Soltale Hotel.


In the ceremony Karishma told that the first color cover of Kamana magazine, some 25-years-ago featured her photo.

Kamana Film Awards announced in association with CG Entertainment

‘Kamana’ monthly and CG Entertainment are jointly organizing Kamana Film Awards. Two organizations signed a contract agreement for the next five years to organize film award in a program held in Soltae Hotel. The award will start on the occasion of the 30th years in publication.




The film award will award the movies and artists of the films released in the year 2070. The date of the award ceremony is yet to be announced. The awards are categorized in five categories – main awards, technician awards, non-contestant honor, critics award and jury awards. The award amount of life-time achievement award will be Rs. 1,00,000.


CG Entertainment is an entertainment wing of Chaudhari Group.

100 artists expected to participate in NEFTA award in Malaysia

The 2014 edition of a film award being organized by Nepal Film Technician Association, NEFTA, is going to be held in Malaysia on January 31. This is the first time the ceremony is changing venue, that too in a foreign country, as all the past five editions of the award were held in Soltee Hotel.


Some of the artists participating in the cultural shows in the ceremony are being trained by Gobind Rai. Some of the artists being trained include Nandita KC, Harshika Shrestha, Keki Adhikari, Benisha Hamal, Nilima Sharma and others. Film journalists Suman Gaire and Bijaya Awaj are also planning to dance with Benisha Hamal in the ceremony. The reharshal is expected to wrap up on January 23.


The actress living in India, Nandita KC, had came back to Kathmandu to do the reharshal of her dance on the song ‘Gairi Khet Ko…’ of ‘Prem Pinda’ and ‘Gurasai Fulyo …’ of ‘Superstar’.


The artists expected to participate in the ceremony include Rekha Thapa, Niruta Singh, Jharana Thapa, Karishma Manandhar, Saujanya Subba, Neeta Dhungana, Rajesh Hamal, Gajit Bista, Yashraj Garach. Some artists are leaving Nepal on January 27 and remaining artists will reach Malaysia on January 29. The team will return back to Nepal on February 2.

NFDC award, second 4-monthly nomination released

Nepal Film Development Company (NFDC) started the National Film Award last year and it has started nominating the best artists every 4 months. The final nomination will be compiled from these nominations. The current nomination is based on the movies released in the last four months (Bhadra 1 to Mangsir end) in theaters.

In the last four months 29 movies were released. The top five movies nominated for the award are:
  • Hostel
  • Dhuwani
  • Madhumash
  • Kali
  • Maun

In Best actor category the nominations are:
  • Aryan Sigdel from ‘Madhumash’
  • Arpan Thapa from ‘Maun’
  • Dayahang Rai from ‘Loafer’
  • Kishor Khatiwada from ‘Dhuwni’
  • Suman Singh from ‘Gambler’

In the best actress category, the nominations are:
  • Jharana Thapa from ‘Kohi Ta Chha’
  • Namrata Shrestha from ‘Maun’
  • Neeta Dhungana from ‘Urbashi’
  • Rekha Thapa from ‘Kali’
  • Sumina Ghimire from ‘Star’

In the similar manner, the nominated supporting actors include Gaurav Pahadi (Hostel), Manoj RC (Madhumash), Ramesh Budhathoki (Rajneeti), Sagar Lamsal (Sourya).

In supporting actresses, three nominations are – Arunima Lamsal (Urbashi), Pabitra Acharya (Rajneeti), Shivangini Rana (Madhumash).

In new actors category four actors are nominated. The nominated actors include Anmol KC from ‘Hostel’, Anup Bikram Shahi from ‘Sourya’, Kishor Shrestha from ‘Urbashi’ and Salon Basnet from ‘Hostel’.

In new actress category – Anju Niraula (Hamri Cheli), Komal Oli (Rajneeti), Prakriti Shrestha (Hostel), Pooja Sharma (Madhumash), Sagun Shahi (Dhuwani).

In script writing the nomination are Arpan Thapa (Maun), Baburam Ghimire (Hamri Cheli), Dinesh Neupane and Abinashbikram Shah (Madhumash), Hemraj BC (Hostel) and Pitambar Pandey (Dhuwani).

In action direction the nomination are : Dev Maharjan (Dhuwani), Himal KC (in War, Bouncer and Gambler), and Roshan Shrestha (Kali). In addition to these nominations, the nominations of music composition, editing, sound engineering, playback singing, background score, and choreography categories. The award is awarded in 20 different categories.

Namrata Sapkota wins Best Model for the Pop and Aadhunik Video award

In the Bindabasini Music Award 2070 the actress and model, Namrata Sapkota won the Best Model for the Pop and Aadhunik Video award. The award ceremony was held on Friday, December 6, 2013 in Kathmandu.

Namrata, an actress, model and salsa dancer has done some good music videos and a movie named ‘Anataral’ as a lead actress.

D Cine Award – Rekha Thapa and Jiwan Luitel best actors

Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has won the best actress award in HTV Filmykhabar D Cine Award. Rekha was awarded the award for her role in her movie ‘Lanka’. The best actor award was awarded to Jiwan Luitel for his role in ‘Notebook’. In the best movie category, ‘Rhythm’ was awarded the best in the year.

In this year’s award, ‘Maya’s Bar’, ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Notebook’ bagged most of the awards.

The award winners include:

  • Best Actor – Jiwan Luitel (Notebook)
  • Best Actress – Rekha Thapa (Lanka)

  • Best New Actress – Sima KC (Use)
  • Best actor in Negative role – Jharana Thapa (Facebook)
